We are excited that you are considering membership in HARC! We believe that parents have a constitutional right and God-given responsibility to educate their children. Our purpose is to support and encourage families that have chosen to educate their children in their home. Membership in HARC is open to anyone who is currently homeschooling or has a concern for home education. In addition, we approach homeschooling from a Christian perspective. However, this is NOT a requirement for membership. We do not wish to exclude any homeschooling family, but we do plan to carry out activities in accordance with Biblical standards.

HARC membership benefits include, but are not limited to, our private HARC Members Facebook group, MailChimp emails, Co-Op Enrichment Classes, Large Group Meetings, Family Nights, organized Field Trips, Kick-Off Picnic, Mom's Nights Out, Christmas Party, Education/Talent Fair, Book Sale, Teen Ball, Graduation, and End- of- Year Party. Some activities will have additional fees.

HARC is a distinctly Christian organization. Our Statement of Faith: We believe the Bible to be the infallible Word of God, the supreme and final authority for all faith and life. We believe in One God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, externally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, and His miracles. We believe Jesus Christ was crucified, died, was buried, and arose on the third day ascended into Heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and return in power and glory to judge the living and the dead. In an effort to support the purpose of our organization, HARC is working to make more information available to members and non-members by way of the internet and other forms of media. We currently have a weekly email, yearbook, private and public Facebook page; but additional forms of media may be available for use in the future. In any and all forms of media, HARC will use pictures that have been given to us by the membership. Because those pictures contain images of minor children, and we wish to keep all of our member families safe, HARC has decided to abide by the following guidelines: PARENTS MAY SHARE PHOTOS OF THEIR FAMILIES, INCUDING THEIR CHILDREN, FOR USE ON THE INTERNET OR IN ANY OTHER FORM OF MEDIA; HOWEVER, ANY PARENT MAY CHOOSE NOT TO SHARE THEIR PHOTOS. THE PARENT OF ANY CHILD WHO IS PICTURED IN ANY FORM OF MEDIA MUST HAVE SIGNED THE "MEDIA CONSENT AND RELEASE" FORM PHOTOS WILL BE CHOSEN THAT ARE DEEMED APPROPRIATE AND MODEST BY HARC LEADERSHIP. NO PERSONAL INFORMATION OF THE CHILDREN, INCLUDING THEIR NAMES, WILL BE RELEASED WITH THE PHOTOS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF NEWSLETTERS AND YEARBOOKS SINCE THESE ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE MEMBERS OF HARC. HARC hopes that these guidelines will safeguard our children from internet predators while providing the public with the information they need. If you have any questions concerning the use of your family's photos in HARC media, please ask a member of the leadership team BEFORE you sign the "Media Consent and Release" or provide photos. The standard by which photos will be deemed appropriate and modest by HARC leadership is the HARC dress code. Copies of the dress code will be made available each year.

MEDIA CONSENT AND RELEASE: I hereby consent to the participation of my family and our shared photographs in all forms of HARC media. I grant them the right to edit, use, and reuse all of the photographs that I present to HARC for non-profit purposes including use in print, on the internet, and in all other forms of media. I also hereby release HARC, its leadership, and its members from all claims, demands, and liabilities whatsoever in connection with the above.

(With regards to social media: please understand that this does not apply to individuals posting pictures that they may have personally taken at HARC events as HARC cannot control what individuals post on their personal profiles or shared on our FB page.)

HARC’s goal as an organization is to honor and represent Christ. Therefore, when we come together for HARC activities, it is necessary that we establish guidelines of dress that provide a safe environment that is free from distractions and makes all feel welcome.

Those guidelines are: shorts must be no shorter than fingertip length when standing; skirts, dresses and slits must be no shorter than knee length; tops must have sleeves and not expose mid-riff, or have plunging necklines or exposed backs; clothing should not be form-fitted, or expose underclothing, ex. baggy pants. Don’t wear clothing that advertises by name or symbol illegal or immoral activity. Please avoid anything that is distracting.

The HARC leadership team, as a body reserves the right to determine whether or not any form of attire is within the limits of the HARC dress guidelines. In matters of opinion, the final vote of the HARC leadership team will prevail. Additional guidelines may be added at any time with approval from HARC leadership team.

HARC is YOUR homeschool group! Activities take volunteers to make them happen. Please prayerfully consider how you can help. In order to be an active member, check 2 or more events that you could HELP with. (You will not be be alone in planning).

Event Descriptions:

Field Trips – This would include calling and getting prices, setting times and getting the announcement put in the email newsletter and create a facebook invite. If several people set up one trip, then we would have several learning adventures during the year. (Ideas: Zoo, Chimney Rock, Apple Orchard, Pumpkin Patch, Bob Jones Art Museum, History Re- enactments or workshops, etc.)

Family Nights – Ideas included bonfire w/s'mores, bowling, game or movie night. This would include planning the event, announcing it, set up and clean up.

Christmas Party – Usually planned for early December, we have a dinner and activities for HARC families. This would include planning, setting up and cleaning up.

Teen Ball –A themed event held in March/April, for those 13 and older. Those attending may dress in the theme or just in nice dress clothes. The dances are “Old English” style. The attending families provide food. There is an additional charge for this event to help cover costs. The Ball Committee would be responsible for planning, announcing, set up and clean up.

Education Fair and Talent Show – Students display items and/or do a presentation. Presentations can include but are not limited to projects or talents. The committee would be expected to plan, announce, set up and cleanup for this event. This event is usually combined with a Book Sale.

Graduation – Families of the graduates plan this event so it reflects their desires. However, having help would make it easier for the families especially on the day of graduation. Some ways that others could help would be set up and clean up, serving at the reception, and offering to fix something for the reception. This allows the families to relax and enjoy the big day with their student and relatives.

End of the Year Party – This will be held late May or early June. Let's close out the school year with a fun event, such as field day, swimming, skating, etc. This committee would need to plan, announce, and coordinate refreshments.

Scholarship Committee – Each year HARC gives at least one scholarship to a well- deserving graduate. Our By-Laws include the policy and application needed to complete this task. A committee is needed to begin this process in the early spring, accept and review applications to announce the recipient at graduation.

Yearbook Committee – We would like to compile pictures of events, families, and special recognition of graduates for the year. This committee would be responsible for collecting these pictures, producing the layout to go to the printer, taking orders, collecting money, and distributing copies. There is usually a charge for the yearbook to defray printing costs. Teens enjoy helping with this endeavor as well.

Co-Op Teacher – We host 2 Co-Ops per year, fall and spring semesters, 8 days each. Lead Teachers develop enrichment classes for an age group of their choice. The children are separated into the age groups – 3–4 years, 5-6 years, 7-8 years, 9-10 years, 11-12 years and Teens. To be a Lead Teacher, you must have been a member of HARC for at least a year or special consideration can be given through the Co-Op Coordinator(s).

Teen Event – Would you be willing to plan and host a teen event? These can include, but are not limited to a cookout, game night, flash-light tag, movie night (family-friendly), Operation Christmas Child, other mission opportunities and so on. Attendees can bring snacks, food, etc. Teen parents would be willing to help chaperone as well. We would love to see the teens build friendships that last a lifetime.

Field Day – Several had fun at our spring field day. This was also a great time for families interested in homeschooling to get to know us a little better. This committee would be responsible for scheduling, planning, and publicizing to the public and our group.

Nominations – This committee would be responsible for taking nominations, checking for eligibility and willingness, publishing the candidate list, printing the ballots and counting ballots at the Education Fair.

Spring/Fall Festivals- Typically an outdoor event with games, crafts, prizes.

6. H.A.R.C. Waiver

I understand that HARC is a cooperative group of homeschooling families and that the safety of my family is my sole responsibility. I will, in no way, hold HARC responsible for my children while at HARC events. I also understand that my children are never allowed to attend any HARC event without parental accompaniment or appointing surrogate guardianship at least 18 years of age.

I agree with these terms and release HARC of any responsibility for my children.

Payment Instructions

An invoice will be sent to the email you provided during registration. The invoice will include a button for payment. Family membership is annual (August-August). Membership during August and January is $45. Outside of those windows, the fee is $90. Membership renewals always happen in August, no matter when you join.

The membership fee will increase to $90 on August 11, 2024.

You are not a member until BOTH fee & registration are received.
